Chopper Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Groves at Well-Known California Beach
A helicopter flying over a well-attended southern California beach abruptly started spinning out of control, eventually dropping height and smashing into a cluster of palm trees as beachgoers watched.
Videos posted online show the chopper beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then falling in the direction of the perimeter of the beach, where it ends up lodged among palms and a steps adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
First Aid Update
Emergency responders stated five people were transported to a medical facility including two who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” following the crash on Saturday.
Three people on the pavement were harmed. Information on their wounds were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
Planned Function
Authorities said the aircraft was linked to an regular “Cars N Copters” charity gathering set for the following day.
