Hollywood Icon Robert Redford Passes Away at the Age of 89
Beloved performer Robert Redford, known for classic roles in films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, died at 89 years old.
An announcement shared that the Oscar-winning star passed away on September 16 at his residence in the mountains of Utah, loved ones.
Redford was also a celebrated actor, but the creator of the Sundance Film Festival.
He received an Academy Award for his direction in 1980 for Ordinary People and shared his exit from performing in the year 2018.
Over his illustrious career, Redford featured in hit films such as Indecent Proposal.
While the film Butch Cassidy catapulted him to a star, he admitted discomfort with being seen as solely a heartthrob.
“He shall remain deeply mourned,” the statement concluded. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”
