Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry title that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in action and insanity with the same excitement, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose projects have represented all of those qualities.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a new location and group of personalities in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual unconventional, visionary sensibility to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
