Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
