Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledges he is unable to hide from his poor record and says it is expected that Old Trafford legends are criticizing him.
Earlier this week, United's all-time scorer Wayne Rooney stated on his program that "the heart has disappeared" from his old team.
The Portuguese manager has secured just eighteen wins from his forty-nine matches in control, including 9 out of 33 in the English top flight, where he has still to achieve back-to-back successive victories.
While senior Old Trafford insiders are insistent that the INEOS chief remains behind Amorim, failure to overcome recently promoted Sunderland on Saturday will ignite new speculation about his position heading into another two-week pause in domestic football.
"This is normal," stated the Portugal-born coach, when questioned about the former striker's remarks. "You cannot run away from the results."
"Additionally you have the history from last season, [although] that period for me doesn't matter."
Fan Reaction and Current Circumstances
United's supporters remained behind Amorim following the previous campaign's disappointing showing, when they ended up 15th in the league - their poorest finish since the 1973-74 relegation campaign - and were beaten in the Europa League showpiece, in the expectation that the current campaign would be substantially better.
The manager told fans the situation would improve because he had greater opportunity to prepare with his players without the midweek commitment of European competition.
That is not been how the first six fixtures have unfolded as Manchester United have suffered three losses so far and are currently 14th in the league.

When asked what guarantees he could give supporters that the situation will change, Amorim continued: "It's not time to say, it is the time to show."
"Personally review the matches this season and, for me, they are totally varied, but I have little to say at the current time."
