Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Beloved Titles
In the vein of the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
