Severe Rains Exacerbate Circumstances for Evacuated Palestinians in Gaza, UN Warn
Intense precipitation over the past week have intensified the already dire circumstances of the vast number of displaced civilians in the region, as stated by humanitarian groups.
"Terrible" Night Brings Grave Threats
A official characterized the recent storm as "terrible", with downpours so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.
"The recent weather was really difficult for the people. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," noted the representative.
Authorities voice extreme worry that young ones residing in temporary structures in soaked garments will contract hypothermia and other ailments.
Deaths and Extensive Destruction
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has died from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have died in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.
Additional accounts suggest a greater death toll. Spokespeople stated that numerous residential buildings had totally fallen and scores had collapsed partially.

Aid Efforts Deemed Inadequate
Groups have increased deliveries of shelter, bedding and clothes after the halt in hostilities began, but they stress there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.
"Agencies are operating tirelessly to deliver that aid and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the needs is so enormous that we still have a great number of people and minors who are genuinely suffering every night," cautioned one official.
Ongoing Issues and Truce Plans
The next stage of the truce involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the removal of military forces, and other provisions.
Humanitarian groups have highlighted the imperative for "expanded and ongoing aid to address pressing and ongoing needs."
The conflict was triggered by an assault in late 2023. Later military operations have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the territory, based on official reports.
