The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where fans can experience the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, whether players will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most players would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the famously flawed car Homer built personally in the 1991 installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in season 10. Rather, fans are getting the family's standard well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic element of the series. For those who pay attention to the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole cosmetic from the show arriving in Rocket League. The event will also include a series of challenges to earn additional rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"

While the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears fans will also get wheels featuring a television showing The Simpsons' opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the extensive Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which includes a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
